A chunky, open-textured coco coir and bark blend designed specifically for orchids. Provides the fast drainage and excellent airflow that epiphytic orchids need to thrive, while retaining just enough moisture to keep roots healthy between waterings.
Most orchids are epiphytes — in the wild they grow on tree branches, not in soil. Their roots need air circulation and must dry out between waterings. Standard potting compost suffocates orchid roots, causing rot and decline. Our Orchid Mix uses chunky coco coir chips combined with bark pieces and charcoal to create an airy, well-draining medium that mimics an orchid's natural growing conditions.
Remove your orchid from its old pot and gently tease away old, decomposed growing medium. Trim any dead or mushy roots with sterile scissors. Place the orchid in a clear pot (orchid roots photosynthesise) and fill around the roots with Orchid Mix. Do not pack too tightly — orchid roots need room to breathe. Water thoroughly and allow to drain completely.
